NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a unique, experiential learning program for people experiencing a mental health challenge who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery. Peer-to-Peer consists of eight two-hour units and is taught by a team of two trained teachers and a volunteer support person, all of whom are personally experienced at living well with mental illness. This program was designated as an evidence-based program by SAMSHA and updated in 2018.

Participants come away from the course with:
  • Tangible resources compiled in a binder
  • An advance directive plan for WA state
  • A “relapse prevention plan” to help identify tell-tale feelings, thoughts, behavior, or events that may warn of impending relapse and to organize for intervention.
  • Increased knowledge of individual diagnoses, therapy types, and medication classifications.
  • Information on the biology of the brain and its impact on mental health conditions.
  • Mindfulness exercises to help focus and calm thinking.
  • Survival skills and communication tips for working with providers and the general public.

This highly sought after course is ABSOLUTELY FREE, but teachers ask that participants commit to attending all 8 evening classes, 2 hours each week for 8 weeks.

If you are interested in participating, please use the registration form or call NAMI Whatcom office at (360) 671-4950.
